Mataram is the Capital of West Nusa Tenggara province, a province that consists of 2 main Islands they are Lombok and Sumbawa Island. It is also as the biggest city in the province where shopping centers, banks, offices, schools and other important facilities mostly located. Mataram is divided to be 6 subdistricts and made up by 4 regions From west to east are Ampenan, Mataram, Cakranegara and Sandubaya with the population around 450,000 people where dominated by Sasak ethnic. The other ethnic that can be found are Balinese, Chinese, Arab and other ethnic groups from neighboring Islands. Accommodations are ranging from home stays to star rated Hotels with the easy access to go to other part of the Island. Some temples the legacy of Balinese kingdom mostly located in this area with its Balinese Hindu community since the kingdom era in 16 century. Ampenan is the oldest Town with many old buildings standing along the street since Dutch colony. This town mostly inhabited by descendants of Chinese and Arab that initially came to trade and stop in the harbor that located nearby.
