Meru temple

Meru Temple is the largest Balinese Hindu temple on Lombok Island. Built in 1720 by Balinese prince Anak Agung Made Karangasem of the Singasari Kingdom in an attempt to unite all small Kingdoms on Lombok Island. The Temple dedicated to the Trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. The temple divided in to 3 courtyards. The main courtyard has 33 shrine represent 33 villages of Balinese Hindu community on the Island, Three Meru ( Multi-roofed shrines ) symbolizing The Trinity, Two elevated floor buildings to place offering and where the Pedanda ( Hindu Priest ) sitting to lead the ceremony. Big festival held annually that fall around June.
